Homer's First Bird

Today we worked each Pup individually.  We took video and over the next several days I'll work on getting a video of each pup that's still with us up on the blog.  Please be patient and understand I'm not a videographer.  It takes me about 2 1/2 hours to do a 3 minute video.  Here we go in no particular order - with "Homer"  I hope you enjoy!

The pups are definitely getting bigger and enjoying time outside a lot more now that the weather has improved.  Today we let the gang out to just run wild and caught a couple minutes of video.  I promise the next video - the lens will be clean!  Anyway - hope you get a glimpse of your pup running through the frame!

Pictures of the Boys and Girls - 7 weeks old!

Apologies for the blogging delay - I've been ill several days.  Today was a good day out with pups, who are now seven weeks playing the "wing on a string" game.  So we took pics of each pup.  We'll start, as we should - Ladies First.  Past that - it is whichever one we grabbed, no favorite order, just reach in and pull!  Hope you enjoy!  We did!

So we took them outside today - shot a lot of video, some of it NOT very good, but left in anyway!  Three groups of three.  Hope you enjoy!

Feeding and playtime

They are getting to the stage of weaning this week.  Scarlet isn't very happy about it, but then she also isn't wanting to lie down very often and feed either since their teeth are coming in!  So, it's time for the Puppy Gruel, which they LOVE!




And then it is playtime - our own version of the PuppyBowl, Vizsla style!  We hope you enjoy!

Puppies Big Trip

The past week has been a big one for the puppies!  They were loaded into a very large crate in the back of Janet's Honda Pilot which was slightly modified by the addition of a panel to let MommaDog in and out at will and made the three day trek across a big hunk of America to our Summer Camp house in South Dakota.

 Newly resettled, they will grow up in the middle of everything.  Just like all our litters, they grow up with us, learning the sights, sounds and smells of humanity.  Nothing is more central to the house than a kitchen.

They're growing!

It's been just over a week and the pups are thriving.  A bout with Mastitis that was caught early frustrated all for a couple of days with supplemental feeding, but that passed.  Pups are starting to get their feet under them a bit.  It is amazing how fast they grow and how strong they are even at this tender age.

Tough Labor

It's been a tough couple of days for everyone, Scarlet, Pups and of course Janet and me.  Delivery was finalized in an emergency c-section due to a uterine torsion during the delivery of the first pup.  Unfortunately that pup did not survive whelp, but thank to the efforts of Dr. Metzler, the staff at Orangevale Veterinary Hospital and a Visa card that held up to the heat, 9 pups and Scarlet survived.  5 Males and 4 Females.

X-rays reveal she has at least 10 pups.

We have been breeding towards a merge of our two lines - Rebel Rouser on One side, Jack Daniels on the other.  This is the culmination of several generations of breeding with that goal in mind.
